Hi

We have noticed recently that sending jpegs as an attachment from any system
frequently fails. Are some ISP's treating them as spam?

Hi

Could well be! I believe it's possible to hide
all sorts of nasties within that which, from the
outside, appears to be an innoccuous jpeg - or
even other form of graphic.

Top of the head I seem to remember Paul chatting
on about 'steganography' (or something?) - ie,
the art of hiding files within innocent piccy data.

As the method can also be used by some less than
savoury individuals/groups when furtively forwarding
something deemed to be criminal and quite possibly
highly distasteful to each other, it is possible
that some servers will be set to remove suspect
data automatically..

Quite apart from the heavy additional overhead load
that jpeg info adds to the servers cf that load
normally occupied by a simple text email.

Answer? ..if there is ever one!

Attach all your piccies to a w3 site - either yours
or one of the often free proprietary sites that deal
securely with these things - and then merely include
a simple url directing your correspondent to your
uploaded and protected piccies, !pdf file or whatever
else held within that site..

"Simples.. clchkk!"

..but make sure you don't get your url mixed up with
www.meercat.com.. or Sergei will wipe his fleas upon
your prize piccies - as well as your good self.. ;))

Hope helps, John - well, a little ..at least.. :))
