I haven't had any postings on comp.sys.acorn.misc since August 16,
although apps and hardware are coming through - is there an Orpheus
news server problem here?

Nope. Messages arriving ok here.

In fact, I notmally find out within a few minutes if there is anything
wrong with the news server, as we have quite a few subscribers using news
now - being that we're one of the few ISPs who still offer news.

And here, lots of them.

Perhaps a NewsHound setting has gone astray?

With best wishes,

Peter.

Still none this morning - any other reason why this newsgroup should
have gone astray (I haven't unticked it in Pluto!)?

Just to answer my own question, I unticked it, downloaded, reticked it
and 30 messages came in : so it was a Pluto glitch.

I suspect more likely NewsHound. It's a very useful app, but setting
it up do do what you want is a bit tricky. Also, it doesn't always
seem to do what Messenger tells it to do, and from the days when I
used Pluto I think this applies to Pluto as well.

With best wishes,

Peter.

You don't say what fetcher you are using. It doesn't appear as part of
the User-Agent line in your headers, and I think that NewsHound adds
that information as it sends the posting, so should I deduce that you
are still using NNTPFetch & NNTPSend?

If so, you should change to NewsHound - NNTPFetch (the transport built
into Voyager) has a bug that can cause it to drop individual newsgroups
from its internal copy of your subscribed list (so Pluto thinks you ar
e still subscribed, but NNTPFetch doesn't).

You should indeed.

I know - I've had NewsHound for ages but just never get round to it!

Thanks.

Or just examine !Voyager.Apps.Transports.!NNTPFetch.HistoryDir and make
sure it hasn't been cluttered up with zero length files - delete them.
