I seem to keep missing all the email shenanigens ..must say
that, for those that have yet to experience it ..pv's dsl
service is proving ultra reliable. (At least I've only ever
caught one minor very short outage since it started way back
when)...

Anyway ..just testing 'coz the argonet snoozegroups seem to
have dried up today. Either it's a lazy day Sunday, or there's
nothing new...

You are correct!
The news server appears to have hiccuped early/mid evening.
Unfortunately, I had a bit of a disaster at home, so I didn't get back to
notice it (and fix it) until about 9.30pm ish.

All should be fine now though.

I'm not quite sure why the news server hiccups occasionally. The server
itself is ok, but I have a suspicion (because news is a lot more 'open' and
subject to input from anywhere in the world) that every so often a rogue
newsgroup or usenet message throws the news server software into a tizzy
and it stops accepting new connections. A simple restart of the news
software fixes it, so it's not a major problem, but I'm working on tracking
down why it does it in the first place.

It may be a coincidence, but I've had Newsagent crash twice in the last few
days, apparently caused by a mass of spam on the aus.aviation NG, which I
have now deselected

I think that the 7.11 conspiracy theorists are mounting a sustained attack.
